In the Five Element Chinese system, spring is a time to nourish the liver and gallbladder organs. These organs do many helpful things for our health including filtering toxins from the external environment and our food, as well as assisting in the breaking down of fats in the body. In general, winter is a time when the liver and gallbladder get overloaded, especially in our culture that emphasizes extra socializing, large meals and decreased exercise during the dark winter months.
